Unfortunately, the most common reasons for a fan to make noise is because it is a low quality fan with a thin motor housing and "cheap" parts. Many times, the parts will come loose inside the motor and the cost to fix the problem would be more expensive than to replace the fan. The good news is that most fans do come with a Manufacturer's Motor Warranty. If you still have your paperwork you can contact the manufacturer direct and they will (in many cases) send out a repairman or send a new part for your fan. Another common reason for a fan to make noise is that it was put together or installed improperly.
